I was picked up by Suvit punctually in the morning. On the way to Bo Sang lake we chatted about the day ahead and what fishing experience I previously had.
I fished a little as a boy off the shore at Southsea in the UK and a little other sea fishing but never landing more than a couple of pounds. Some fly fishing too I explained as an adult, but not for some years.
After about an hour at the lake we caught a nice sized Mekong catfish about 8kg I recall. We caught several nice fish throughout the day about ten I think, and lost one or two. The biggest landed was 23kg with another at about 17kg I was quite shocked by the power of Great Mekong Catfish. It must have taken 15 Minutes for me to land the biggest; tiring but good fun.
I was quite intrigued with the Swim feed rig and the amount of bait used, It all seemed to work very well though.
I was having the time of my life; Suvit felt more like a friend than a guide, we were chatting over a few beers, water & lunch which was delivered to us at the lakeside.
What a fantastic day I had with Suvit. He really is a nice guy.
To top things off the following day he delivered to my hotel a really well produced video DVD of some of the catches along with some still photography, also some video of a family trip at the reservoir which was nice.
Should I visit Chang Mai again, I will certainly go fishing again with Suvit.
Thank you for a great day out.
Best wishes, your friend David.
